Profile
This workshop will equip participants with the fundamental knowledge in robotics, from both hardware and software aspects, including evolution and future trends, anatomy and performance characteristics of robots, as well as basic concepts in robotic process automation. These fundamentals which will be crucial in the selection of the right robots for the right tasks in healthcare settings. Participants will also be introduced to basic problem-solving methodologies such as identification of inefficiencies, root cause analysis and crafting project charters, which are extremely crucial before embarking on implementing robotic solutions. Hands-on activities will be embedded throughout the workshop duration to allow participants in learning experientially and gaining a better appreciation of the contents taught.
What You'll Learn
The first robot in the medical field emerged in the 1980s, where surgical assistance was provided using robotic manipulation technology. Since then, robotic technologies (both hardware and software) have evolved such that they are now used beyond the operating room into clinical settings to better support healthcare workers and enhance patient care by streamlining workflows. Robotic technologies are also used in research laboratories to automate manual, repetitive, and high-volume tasks, thereby freeing up the human workforce to focus on more strategic tasks that make discoveries happen faster. Participants will be introduced to this exciting world of robotics in order to get a better appreciation and understanding of these robotic solutions which they may encounter in their daily lives, be it at work, home or otherwise.
