Profile
The course is made of the following 3 lectures.
- Spacecraft Environment Interaction
- Space systems verification
- Radiation effects and testing
By the end of this course, the participants should be able to:
- Understand the role of space sector in the digital economy
- Explain the necessary space and ground infrastructure for satellite-based digital applications
- Analyse the effects of space environment on a satellite
- Discuss systems engineering approaches to satellite development
What You'll Learn
The course provides an essential understanding of key topics related to satellite testing, allowing learners to explore the role of the space sector in the digital economy and gain insights into the necessary space and ground infrastructure required for satellite-based digital applications. This course is a part of the initiative to build the eco-system of Singapore space sector by providing professional learning and upskilling opportunities for those who work and/or want to work in the Singapore space sector.
The worldwide market size of the space industry is expected to grow to 1 trillion USD in 2040 from less-than 400 billion USD in 2020. Most of the growth is due to newly evolving "new space" industry that offers the connectivity through space and information derived from big data analysis of satellite data. The growth contributes to the digital transformation of the terrestrial economy. This course intends to provide the professional training to prepare for the digital economy generated by the space industry.
At the end of the course, learners will develop an understanding of the critical factors involved in creating a robust and reliable satellite testing framework. By acquiring these fundamentals of satellite testing, they will also explore how testing plays a crucial role in identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring functionality, and optimizing system performance and its impact on satellite performance, reliability, and mission success.
Minimum Entry Requirement
This programme is suitable for participants working/ intending to work in the space industry. Prior knowledge in mechanical engineering or physics will be an advantage.
