Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the challenges an individual with drug addiction faces in order to stay drug-free
- Apply the knowledge of coping strategies to support the families of recovering / recovered drug offenders
- Apply the knowledge of rehabilitative interventions for recovering drug addicts and their families.
What You'll Learn
The course engages the learner to take a closer look at the practice of family therapy. Learners will be analyzing Bowen's Transgenerational Model and Minuchin's Structural Therapy Model, and how these models can be best used to guide the approach to working with families. Learners will also learn the tools and techniques that are linked to each of the models.
Minimum Entry Requirement
The target audience includes all professionals who work with families such as school personnel, medical professionals, social workers, counsellors, welfare officers, police officers etc.
The skills and knowledge for this course, which the learner is assumed to possess, are as follows:
- Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6
- Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6
- Be able to use numeracy skills equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 6
