This course is only intended for the low wage workers in the PWM-Food Services Sector.
Performance Gaps the Course will address include:
- Lack of awareness about food waste disposal and reduction amongst individuals in the Food Service industry
- Lack of knowledge and ability to identify food wastage gaps and how that could be improved.
- Lack of understanding of the food waste problem and the practical solutions to address it.
- Lack of understanding of reducing waste at different stages of the operation process.
- Lack of education as to how reducing food waste can benefit businesses, customers, and the environment.
Employment, Job Development or Job Upgrading:
- This module falls under PWM. In this context, Food Waste Disposal and Reduction training can enable current and future employees of the Food and Beverage Operation sector in Singapore to have knowledge and ability to identify food wastage gaps and how that could be improved.
- It educates them as to how reducing food waste can benefit businesses, customers, and the environment. It can help employees in the F&B sector by uplifting wages and skills for workers in the Food Services Industry, thus providing employment, job development and job upgrading benefits.

This training program is relevant in effectively tackling the problem of food wastage in Singapore. What You'll Learn
With a focus on achieving zero waste in Singapore, reducing food waste has become crucial for sustainable development. Currently, food waste constitutes nearly half of the average 1.5kg of daily household waste in Singapore.
This 1-day course helps learners understand the food waste issue and practical solutions to tackle it at various operational stages, with the aim of reducing food waste and bringing advantages to businesses, customers, and the environment.
Minimum Entry Requirement
- Able to read, write and speak in English (WLPN Level 3 and above).
- Min 21 years old.
- Primary school level onwards education.
- Skills and knowledge of the F & B domain across industries.
- No prior experience is required.
- Learners who do not meet the MER may be considered through interviews on a case-by-case basis.
