The Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Perianaesthesia) course will offer the following modules:
(1) Applied Pathophysiology and Pharmacology in Perianaesthesia Nursing (60 hours)
(2) Health Assessment and Clinical Decision-Making (45 hours)
(3) Perianaesthesia Nursing Science (60 hours)
(4) Anaesthesia for Specialty Surgery and Procedure (60 hours)

What You'll Learn
At the completion of the PDC, learners will be able to:
(1) Explain the disease process of disease states and associated complications in clients requiring anaesthesia in relation to general and systemic pathological concepts;
(2) Explain pharmacological management of clients requiring anaesthesia with reference to key concepts of pharmacology;
(3) Perform physical examination to make appropriate clinical decision and interventions using a focused and systematic approach;
(4) Demonstrate competency in the requisite skills for clients requiring anaesthesia according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) guidelines;
(5) Describe the psychosocial issues pertaining to perianaesthesia nursing practice using appropriate psychosocial concepts; and
(6) Discuss the complications associated with different types of anaesthesia that cater to variety of surgeries or procedure with reference to American Association of Nurse Anaesthesiology (AANA) recommendation.
Minimum Entry Requirement
- Diploma in Nursing from a local Polytechnic or an equivalent qualification;
- Singapore Nursing Board registration;
- 2 years post registration experience with a minimum of 1 year in the discipline of study.
