The Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Orthopaedics) course will offer the following modules:
(1) Applied Pathophysiology and Pharmacology in Orthopaedic Nursing (60 hours)
(2) Health Assessment and Clinical Decision-Making (45 hours)
(3) Trauma of the Upper and Lower Limb (60 hours)
(4) Trauma of the Spine (60 hours)
Total training hrs: 225
What You'll Learn
At the completion of the PDC, learners will be able to:
(1) Explain the disease process of common and complex orthopaedic disease states in relation to general and systemic pathological concepts;
(2) Explain pharmacological management of clients with common and complex orthopaedic conditions with reference to key concepts of pharmacology;
(3) Perform physical assessment for appropriate clinical decisions and interventions using a systematic, comprehensive and focused approach;
(4) Plan for care of client with common and complex orthopaedic conditions related to upper, lower limbs and spine using a systematic, comprehensive and client-focused approach;
(5) Demonstrate competency in the requisite skills for common and complex orthopaedic conditions and surgeries related to upper, lower limbs and spine for clients in orthopaedic settings according to evidence-based clinical guidelines; and
(6) Apply concepts of care in client with common and complex orthopaedic conditions and surgeries related to upper, lower limbs and spine and families in orthopaedic setting with reference to appropriate psychosocial concepts and models.
Minimum Entry Requirement
- Diploma in Nursing from a local Polytechnic or an equivalent qualification;
- Singapore Nursing Board registration;
- 2 years post registration experience with a minimum of 1 year in the discipline of study.
