The Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Community Health) course will offer the following modules:
(1) Applied Pathophysiology and Pharmacology in Community Health Nursing (60 hours)
(2) Health Assessment and Clinical Decision-Making (45 hours)
(3) Principles and Practice for Community Health Care (60 hours)
(4) Population Health for Children, Adolescent, Adults and Chronic Disease Management (60 hours)
Total training hours: 225
What You'll Learn
At the completion of the PDC, learners will be able to:
(1) Explain general and systemic pathophysiological concepts related to the common health conditions in relation to community settings;
(2) Evaluate medications used in community settings in relation to chronic disease management;
(3) Perform physical assessment for appropriate clinical decisions and interventions using a systematic, comprehensive and focused approach;
(4) Demonstrate population-centred and culturally appropriate nursing practice to meet the core function of community health nursing with reference to macrolevel conceptual frameworks; and
(5) Devise age-appropriate health promotion programme with reference to health promotion and disease prevention frameworks.
Minimum Entry Requirement
This section indicates the minimum criteria to be satisfied by a learner who would be enrolled in the course and whether the proposed course is open-enrolment.
- Diploma in Nursing from a local Polytechnic or an equivalent qualification;
- Singapore Nursing Board registration;
- 2 years post registration experience with a minimum of 1 year in the discipline of study.
