On completion of this module, learners will be able to:
- apply knowledge of advanced mental health nursing in a variety mental health setting.
- understand the scope of mental health nursing and the responsibilities of the extended role of the mental health nurse.
- assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for the client with mental health problems and their significant others.
- participate in a comprehensive range of treatments and therapeutic approaches for different problems encountered by the clients.
- collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary team in the provision of comprehensive care to the clients with mental health problems and their significant others.
- reflect on own practice with the aim to provide quality care and service to the clients with mental health problems and their significant others.
What You'll Learn
Post-Diploma Certificate in Practice of Mental Health Nursing 1 (PDC2 of Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Mental Health)) comprises 3 weeks of clinical placement to various settings to provide the learners with a better understanding of care in different settings. The learners will utilize the problem-solving approach in the assessment, planning and delivery of nursing care, as well as develop analytical and critical thinking through reflective practice.
Minimum Entry Requirement
- Diploma in Nursing from a local Polytechnic or an equivalent qualification;
- Singapore Nursing Board registration;
- 2 years post registration experience with a minimum of 1 year in the discipline of study.
