Upon completion of this certificate, the participants will be able to:
- Analyse and troubleshoot common faults in electrical power systems. Troubleshoot common problems encountered in electrical circuits and systems.
- Acquire a firm understanding in solar energy, semiconductor and junction.
- Understand operations and design requirements and considerations of silicon solar cell.
- Understand PV module design and characterization.
- Gain knowledge and skills for PV field failure detection.
- Acquire a firm understanding on grid-connected and standalone PV systems.
- Understand design, integration, integration and testing of grid-connected PV systems.
- Understand international and local code on grid-connected PV systems.
What You'll Learn
The Modular Certificate in PV System Technology (Elective) – Part of Diploma in Engineering (Electrical) (DEE1) is a part-time CET course, consist of the following modules:
- Electrical Circuit Analysis* (60hrs)
- PV Cell Module (60hrs)
- PV System Design & Integration (60hrs)
- Common module to be taken either in Certificate 3
Minimum Entry Requirement
The following GCE 'O' Level grades and with at least 1 year of relevant work experience:
"“ English Language (Grade 1-7)
"“ Mathematics (Grade 1-6)
"“ Science (Grade 1-6)
OR NITEC with GPA >= 3.5
OR NITEC with GPA >= 3.0 and with at least 1 year of relevant work experience
OR Higher NITEC with GPA >= 2.0
OR Higher NITEC with GPA >= 1.5 and with at least 1 year of relevant work experience
OR NITEC in Technology or Services with GPA >= 3.5 and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience
OR Higher NITEC in Technology or Services with GPA >=2.0 and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience
OR relevant Advanced WSQ Certificate (or higher) and Level 6 WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience
OR applicants with at least 2 years of relevant working experience may apply for the course
