The English Language programme engages in the formal study of the structures of language, the qualitative study of language in its social context and the psychological/neurological processes underlying the use of language. Our aim is to

help our students gain familiarity with the questions and methodologies of these various areas of Language;
provide our students with training in research and teaching; and
nurture experts who will push the boundaries of the field and bring it in interesting directions

What You'll Learn

Comprising four taught courses and a 30,000 word thesis, the MA by Research in English Language and Linguistics offers students the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of the field, and to conduct innovative research into a specific aspect of it.
