What You'll Learn
This course is designed to upgrade the skills and competencies of healthcare and health-related professionals, such as nurses, allied health workers, senior activity centre staff, and health coaches, in the field of chronic disease intervention.
With a focus on mitigating risks and managing osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, the course equips these professionals to guide and support patients, particularly senior citizens, in preventing and managing these conditions through a combination of medication compliance and lifestyle modifications such as exercise, diet, pain management, biomechanical adjustments, and the use of movement aids. These holistic management strategies go beyond the basics of disease management and are not typically covered in traditional training programs.
This program aligns with recent healthcare initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of our aging population, such as Healthier SG and the National Plans for Successful Ageing. These initiatives emphasize community-based and lifestyle-oriented healthcare delivery and aim to double the number of senior activity centres in the coming years, providing elderly individuals with the support they need for their social and health needs.
