By the end of the module, students will appreciate the different dimensions of health promotion and systematically design and evaluate health promotion programmes.
What You'll Learn
This module is part of the Modular Certificate in Promoting Health Behaviours.
This module will build students' understanding of key theoretical concepts and principles in health promotion, and of contemporary challenges in the practice of health promotion. It will also enable students to work in a variety of population groups, and in a wide range of settings. It will introduce the science and art of health promotion through evidence-based individual, community and societal approaches for improving health and preventing illness, including needs assessment, priority setting, and planning and developing health promotion initiatives.
Minimum Entry Requirement
O Levels
- 3 relevant passes; and
- At least 1 year relevant work experience
Higher Nitec
- GPA ≥ 2.0; or
- GPA ≥ 1.5 and at least 1 year relevant work experience
Nitec
- GPA ≥ 3.5; or
- GPA ≥ 3.0 and at least 1 year relevant work
Higher Nitec in Technology / Services
- GPA ≥ 2.0 and at least 1 year relevant work experience
Nitec in Technology / Services
- GPA ≥ 3.5 and at least 1 year relevant work experience
WSQ
- Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher); and
- At least 1 year relevant work experience; and
- Level 6 WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA and Workplace Numeracy SOA
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 2 years of relevant working experience. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
