Profile
Performance gaps that the course will address
This course aims to provide a basic understanding of how data can be extracted from existing machines for purposes outside of the main manufacturing activities, and will in particular, provide the following:
- An understanding of sensors, how they operate, the types available, and their use cases
- An understanding of industrial wireless technologies
- Knowledge of industrial automation protocols for the extraction of process data from machine PLCs
- An understanding of PLC communication and machine-to-machine messaging protocols
- An understanding of data analytics and its applications
What You'll Learn
This training is targeted towards manufacturing companies who are interested in getting data from sensors and machine PLCs in order to get visibility of the shop floor status, insights of machine health conditions, waste generation and energy consumption status for the purpose of taking pre-emptive action to forestall machine breakdowns, waste minimisation, poor production quality issues and excessive energy usage.
The manufacturing sectors that are targeted includes precision engineering, electronics, general manufacturing and pharmaceutical.
Minimum Entry Requirement
The minimum requirement is a diploma from an engineering course
Exceptions may be made for matured workers who do not possess technical qualifications but are working in the manufacturing industry
