Course Objectives for Specialist Diploma (NSDEG) programme will be:
- To equip students with knowledge and skills on Statistics and Programming for Data Science.
- To equip students with knowledge and skills on setting up databases and data warehouses for organisations.
- To equip students with knowledge and skills as to create and manage Extract, Transform & Load (ETL)(4) pipelines for Big Data.
What You'll Learn
The Specialist Diploma in Data Science (Data Engineering) (NSDEG) aims to train data engineers with the appropriate skills as to support organisations in creating and sustaining data pipelines to manage the flow of big data. The course starts by laying a foundation in Data Science skills (Statistics and Programming for Data Science) and is then topped off with a specialisation in Data Engineering.
Minimum Entry Requirement
Polytechnic Diploma/ University with Engineering or IT diploma/degree:
Applicants must have an Engineering/ IT diploma or degree from a recognized polytechnic*/ university** in Singapore
Polytechnic Diploma/ University with Maths requirement:
Applicants must have any other diploma or degree from a recognized polytechnic*/ university** in Singapore, and possess a Pass grade in either GCE 'O' level Mathematics or a Mathematics subject at diploma level.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
Applicants with relevant work experience in a data-related or analytical role will be considered on case-by-case basis, with consideration of supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
