Profile
The journey through this 15-hour module starts somewhere familiar: most SME owners and managers in Singapore lead by instinct, having learned on the job through trial and error. The opening sessions are designed to make that instinct visible — translating what you already do into recognisable leadership frameworks, and naming the gaps that usually stay hidden. From there, the course builds upward, from self-awareness to team dynamics and finally to the strategic decisions that shape a small business’s direction.
Early on, you confront a question many small-company leaders avoid: what kind of leader are you, really? Using diagnostic exercises and case discussions drawn from local enterprises, the module pushes you to examine your default style — whether you tend to command, persuade, or delegate — and where that style helps or hurts in a team of ten, twenty, or fifty staff. It is not about prescribing one ideal model; the point is to match your behaviour to your company’s stage, size, and culture.
As the course progresses, the lens widens. You look at how leadership shows up in everyday SME operations: in hiring and retaining staff, in managing conflict without a big HR department, in communicating direction when change feels risky. These sessions are deliberately practical. Expect to work through scenarios drawn from real Singapore small businesses, then leave with checklists and conversation scripts you can use the next working day. The teaching is synchronous and online, so you still get live interaction with the facilitator and fellow participants.
The final stretch connects leadership to business innovation. A small firm cannot outspend larger rivals, so its edge must come from how decisions get made and how people are mobilised. Here you practise aligning your team around an innovation goal, setting clear accountability, and sustaining momentum when results are slow. You also look at succession — a growing concern for many owner-managers — and how to build leadership depth without losing the founder’s drive.
By the end, you should be able to walk into your own company and see leadership not as a title but as a set of deliberate practices. You will have a personal action plan tailored to your context, a clearer sense of your leadership shadow, and concrete tools for steering your team through growth or disruption.
