Post-Diploma Certificate in Principles and Science of Gerontology Nursing course will offer the following modules:
(1) Applied Pathophysiology and Pharmacology in Gerontology Nursing (60 hours)
(2) Health Assessment and Clinical Decision-Making (45 hours)
(3) Management of Age-Related Disorders of Older Adults (60 hours)
(4) Management of Psychogeriatric Disorders in Older Adults (60 hours)
Total Training hours: 225
What You'll Learn
At the completion of the PDC, learners will be able to:
(1) Examine the effects of bio-psycho-social and cultural factors in relation to the ageing process;
(2) Explain the disease process of multisystem disease states of ageing clients in relation to general and systemic pathological concepts;
(3) Explain pharmacological management of ageing clients with complex health problems with reference to key concepts of pharmacology;
(4) Perform physical assessment for appropriate clinical decisions and interventions using a systematic, comprehensive and focused approach; and
(5) Plan for care of clients with psychogeriatric conditions in relation to the appropriate treatment modalities and supportive therapies using a systematic, comprehensive and focused approach.
Minimum Entry Requirement
Fifteen full-time Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Clinical Specialty)
- Diploma in Nursing from a local Polytechnic or an equivalent qualification;
- Singapore Nursing Board registration;
- 2 years post registration experience with a minimum of 1 year in the discipline of study.
