This workshop help educators and support staff incorporate to infuse an experiential Place-Based Educational (PBE) pedagogy into their curriculum or programs. This approach can be interdisciplinary and is not limited to outdoor activities. This hands-on workshop will engage the senses as we explore the neighboring estates and parks, followed by a guided approach to how to craft a lesson plan using PBE pedagogy.
What You'll Learn
The Place-Based Curriculum has been proven effective in helping to develop the student's sense of place and understanding of their immediate surroundings. Educators can apply this Place-Based Educational (PBE) pedagogy to enhance their curriculum. Adopting PBE in the curriculum can increase student's engagement using real-world context, environmental stewardship, strengthen involvement within the surrounding community.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the important and benefits of sense of place.
- Identify and describe the different lenses in viewing and caring for the environment surrounding school and community.
- Apply Place-Based Educational (PBE) pedagogy in curriculum or programmes.
