Post-Diploma Certificate in Paramedical Management of Non-Cardiorespiratory Emergencies (part of Diploma (Conversion) in Paramedic Science)

This Post-Diploma Certificate in Paramedical Management of Non-Cardiorespiratory Emergencies course will provide learners the skills and knowledge on the followings :

• Disorders of Gastro, Renal & Neuro-Immune systems (45 hours)
• Pharmacotherapeutics in Paramedicine (30 hours)
• Management of Medical Emergencies (70 hours)

What You'll Learn

The objective of this course is to :

• learn how to examines the organization, structure and functions of the nervous, gastrointestinal, urinary and immune systems of the human body systems. The pathophysiology of related disorders relevant to paramedicine will be discussed
• introduce the learner to the different categories of drugs used to manage patients in the prehospital emergency care settings. It will enable learners to apply their knowledge and develop precautions relating to drug use in paediatric, geriatric and pregnant patients
• provide learners with the opportunities to develop skills and integrate critical thinking in providing care for patients with medical emergencies including substance abuse and poisoning. Learners will learn differential diagnoses and understand prehospital protocols used in managing such emergencies

Minimum Entry Requirement

To be eligible for the course, candidates must possess the following:

• Local polytechnic diploma or equivalent or any degree from a recognized university

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course on a case-by-case basis based on:

• Evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview.

Due to the special requirements of the healthcare profession, all applicants have to pass a medical examination and to submit their blood screening and vaccination records according to MOH's established standard set of screening and vaccination requirements.
