The objective of this course is to address the challenges faced by early childhood providers when having difficult conversations with parents and caregivers. By utilising the 7-step roadmap, participants can expect to be equipped with skills that will help actively engage families in planning for their child's developmental needs.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Outline the 7 steps of the conversation roadmap
- Explain the significance of each step in the conversation roadmap
- Describe at least 2 strategies used in each step
- Demonstrate the application of each step with at least 2 case studies
What You'll Learn
Learn to communicate effectively in child development conversations with strength-based strategies.
Organised by National University of Hospital (NUH) Child Development Unit, Paediatrics Department, National University of Singapore (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, this one-day course designed to help providers working with young children under 6 years old to navigate conversations around child development.
With a significant gap in lack of formal training to manage parents and caregivers professionally, this course aims to build one's confidence and competence and fill the gap for both amateurs and experienced educators and providers.
Participants can expect to gain practical tips on strengthening home-school partnerships and discover collaborative ways to discuss a child's development and the expected outcomes with the family.
Minimum Entry Requirement
- Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) certified Early Childhood teacher or Early Intervention Teacher (Advanced Diploma In Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs) or Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs)
- Allied Health Professionals
- At least 3 months work experience with young children and families
