Expected learning outcomes:

To obtain the skills to integrate an Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (eFAST) protocol Point of Care UltraSound (PoCUS) into the patient management pathway in emergency assessment of shortness of breath and chest/abdominal pain.
Become a safe, experienced PoCUS practitioner.
A practitioner who completes this program will be recognised and acknowledged as being competent in performing point of care ultrasound for their patient's welfare. This standard currently does not exist, making Singapore a leader in this field

What You'll Learn

This course teaches students how to INTEGRATE their prior learning, of acquiring and interpreting ultrasound images, into a patient management pathway if they diagnose free fluid or free air in the chest and abdomen.

Blended learning strategies

Mini-Simulations
Simulated clinical environment practical scanning directed by a clinical specialist Doctor to simulate the stresses of emergency situations.
Interactive face to Face teaching
A maximum 1 tutor:4 student ratio facilitating personised learning
Dynamic didactic presentations delivered by industry experts.
Case based group discussion led by the tutor presenting real world patient cases.
Synchronous Online learning
Case study submissions including images, with detailed constructive, honest feedback by a personal tutor. The student has direct access to this tutor for the duration of their course on a 1:1 basis.
Peer group support live-chat forum moderated and assisted by skilled tutors. This will also facilitate ongoing learning beyond the completion of the course.
Asynchronous online learning
Online videos, powerpoints.
Online quizzes.
Continuing support
Weekly literature uploaded to the dedicated student portal
Participation in a comprehensive topic specific forum to facilitate personal and professional growth beyond the course..
