On completion of this unit, the learner will have the knowledge and be equipped with the application skills to function as a member of an emergency response team in order to implement the emergency response skills during an emergency incident in buildings.
What You'll Learn
This unit covers basic fire fighting, rescue techniques and procedures while being a Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) member for buildings that can be utilized during an emergency. This unit is to be differentiated from a fire incident, which generally refers to a minor fire incident which may escalate to a fire emergency. A fire emergency will generally cover an incident which is larger in magnitude and severity, and will involve the activation of the CERT team.
Minimum Entry Requirement
For the Assumed Attitudes, Skills and Knowledge, participants are expected to have:
- Relevant work experience to the workplace they would like to be a part of
CERT
- Able to listen, read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES
Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 4
- Self-directed learner
- Possess an open and analytical mind
